The 13th International Conference on Open Source Systems (OSS 2017)
Mayo 22-23, 2017. Buenos Aires. Argentina.

CALL FOR POSTERS AND TOOL DEMONSTRATIONS

Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) has had a disruptive effect on the software industry and the ways that organizations and individuals create, distribute, acquire, and use software and software-based services. The FLOSS movement has created new kinds of opportunities such as the emergence of new business models, knowledge exchange mechanisms, and collective development approaches. But, the movement has introduced new kinds of challenges, especially as different problem domains embrace openness as a pervasive problem solving strategy. FLOSS can be complex yet widespread and often cross-cultural. Consequently, they require an interdisciplinary understanding of their technical, economic, legal, and socio-cultural dynamics.

OSS 2017 also includes a forum to present posters and demonstrate tools covering any aspect of FLOSS. It gives researchers the chance to present their most recent work and obtain early feedback on ongoing research. Posters may cover any topic in scope of the conference and should present (progress towards) a scientific result and should not be advertisements for commercial products. While posters need not describe completed work, they should at least present some preliminary results. The tools track provides researchers as well as practitioners with the opportunity to show how they support and enable the use of OSS research tools in practice, making them more usable and useful. We encourage discussions on experiences and lessons learned when using the tool in practice.

Important Dates

Submission: March 30th
Notification of Acceptance: April 10th
Camera-ready version: April 30th
Poster Display: May 22-23rd
Poster Presentation: TBD

In addition to the poster session, the posters will be on display in the coffee hall outside the OSS 2017 presentation rooms. There will also be brief and informal presentations of the posters. Well-crafted posters must present the work well by themselves, but authors of posters are encouraged to be available to describe and discuss their work during coffee break. The poster dimension will normally be A0 portrait, with poster content mounted on rectangular poster board that we will provide.

Tool Demonstrations

Tools will be presented at desks using your own laptop and screens provided by the OSS organizers.

Submission

For the submission, the general OSS submission guidelines apply. We encourage submissions between 2 and 4 pages following the same rules as research papers. At least one of the authors must be registered at the conference and present the poster or tool, in order to have the work published in the OSS 2017 website.

Contributions must be submitted using EasyChair at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=oss2017.
